Cinnamon Sugar Twists
Founders
These crisp, flaky twists are for those times when you want something sweet but don't feel like making pastry from scratch. Ready-made puff pastry does the heavy lifting, while cinnamon and sugar create a familiar, comforting flavour.
They're particularly good with coffee or tea, and they look more impressive than the effort involved.

Ingredients
- 1 sheet ready-made puff pastry, thawed but still cool, about 225–250 g (8–9 oz)
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 mL) ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon (15 mL) butter, melted and cooled slightly
- A little all-purpose flour, for the work surface
Directions
Prepare the oven and tray
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper rated for this temperature.
Mix the topping
Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
Prepare the pastry
Unfold the thawed, still-cool pastry onto a lightly floured surface.
Brush with the melted butter and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar.
Gently press the topping into the pastry.
Cut the pastry into 12 even strips.
Twist and arrange
Hold each strip at both ends and twist it several times.
Place on the baking sheet, leaving space between the twists.
If the pastry has become very soft or sticky, refrigerate briefly before baking.
Bake
Bake for approximately 15 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
If the pastry is still pale or looks undercooked in the centre, bake a little longer. Use the pastry package instructions as a guide for the particular brand and thickness.
Cool briefly
Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.
Transfer leftovers to a rack to cool completely before storing.
