There's nothing quite like a warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. This classic recipe delivers perfectly golden cookies with crispy edges and soft, chewy centers loaded with melty chocolate chips.
Ingredients
-
2¼ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-
¾ cup granulated sugar
-
¾ cup packed brown sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula or wooden spoon.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly underdone.
Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips for Success
- Don't overbake! The cookies will continue to cook on the hot baking sheet after removing from the oven.
- For extra flavor, try using a mix of semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies.
- Use room temperature butter and eggs for best results.
Enjoy these cookies warm with a glass of cold milk, or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
